Wonderland Lyric Video
One day I was sitting in bed texting with my Swiftaburger pals when I randomly decided to do a Taylor swift edit. I had never done a video before, so I wanted to try it out. I had no previous knowledge of any video making tools all I had was the downloaded powerpoint app on my computer. Three months, 402 powerpoint slides, and lots of edits later and this was the result.
It may seem like Wonderland is an odd choice given that it’s not the most emotional song, or the most popular, in fact, it wasn’t even an official song on 1989, it was a deluxe track. But Wonderland is a profoundly personal and well-crafted song. In the song, Taylor discusses a torrid relationship that was exciting, euphoric, and dangerous. Of course, those are my words, not Taylors. Instead of using words, she uses metaphors and allusions such as vines twisting as well as cloaking the song in the theme of Alice and Wonderland. But, in typical Taylor Swift fashion, she does more than write the lyrics but brings them to life with an irresistible beat and sound that immediately captivated me.
And I know this is entirely for the wrong era, but I feel like that depicts the longevity of the song and how much I love it. Many years later, I still find myself selecting Wonderland to listen to. The song is among Dear John, Cold As You, and All Too Well in my favorite lyrical songs and among Holy Ground, New Romantics, and Out Of The Woods for my favorite musical songs. I hope I did the song justice especially considering that there is no official music video for it and it has only been performed live a few times. Although it’s not too late to fix that (wink) @taylorswift So if you want the play it on Arlington Night One or Two so I could hear it live I wouldn’t mind, but making this video wasn’t part of a ploy to get you to perform the song at my shows I promise. I am perfectly content jamming to the masterpiece that is Wonderland in the beats headphones I stole from my sister.
